A Man of Many Talents
Yesterday Maurie Becker was the MC for our Joe & Ana 1st Anniversary celebration. He added a lot of humor with Chris Becker involving him in his magic show, & with his advice to the anniversary couple.
Today I went to church & here Maurie was filling in for Rev. Marschner. He seemed equally at ease as he led the service as he did as MC yesterday. He even had the confidence to change things a little. He stood behind the pulpit instead of in front, he led us in a new song in his clear, strong voice, & he also had a lesson before the sermon. He had a 5 stick pkg of gum passes around to everyone, & used that as a symbol for the 5 steps of prayer. He said that he gave his sermon “Be Bold in Prayer” 30 years ago when it was written for him by Rev Bauer.
During the week Maurie is busy with his construction business. I hear he is pretty booked for the year, so you know he is equally good at his week day job. This is just one example of the talent in Anamoose.
